How to Use This Calculator

Answer a few questions about your income and your monthly spending, and you'll see which Neo card actually pays you the most.

Step 1: Choose Personal or Household Income

Start by picking whether you want to be assessed on your own income or your household's. Neo's World and World Elite cards have minimum income requirements, and the rule here is simple: go with whichever option gets you into the higher tier. Because the household thresholds are set well above the personal ones, counting a partner's income doesn't automatically work in your favour. If you earn $90,000 on your own and your household brings in $130,000, your personal income qualifies you for the World Elite card and your household income does not, so stay on Personal income. If you earn $60,000 and your household brings in $160,000, it's the other way around, and Household income is what unlocks the World Elite card. When you're not sure which side you land on, try both and keep whichever one leaves more cards in your results.

Step 2: Select Your Annual Income Range

Pick the range that matches your situation. On personal income, the Neo Money Card and the Neo Mastercard have no minimum, the Neo World Mastercard needs $50,000, and the Neo World Elite Mastercard needs $80,000. On household income, those thresholds rise to $80,000 and $150,000. Cards you don't qualify for are removed from your results entirely, so you're only ever comparing cards you could actually get approved for.

Step 3: Enter Your Monthly Spending

Set what you spend in a typical month across six categories: groceries, gas and EV charging, recurring bills, food and drink, retail shopping, and everything else. Drag the sliders or type an exact amount into the box beside each one. The numbers start at Canadian averages, so adjust them to look like your own spending rather than an ideal month. Accuracy matters here more than anywhere else in the calculator, because the accelerated categories are where the cards separate from each other. If your spending in a category goes past the point where a card's boosted rate stops applying, a note appears under that category telling you exactly how much of your spending drops to the base rate. Use the Reset link to put everything back to the starting values.

Step 4: Pick the Card That Pays You the Most

The black panel names your winner and shows what it pays you net per year, meaning the cashback you earn minus the annual fee. It also breaks out what you'd earn in a typical month and what the card charges annually. Below it, every card you qualify for is ranked from most to least profitable for your spending. Trust the net figure rather than the headline rates, because a card with a $149 annual fee can still come out ahead of a no-fee card once you spend enough in its accelerated categories, and it can just as easily lose to one if you don't. Tap Compare all cards to see the full lineup, and tap the name of the card at the top of your ranking to read its details and apply on Neo's site.
